OUR STORY
With a fourth-generation horticultural legacy and a lifelong passion for sustainability, our story begins with a commitment to nurturing a better future.
Michael Jacques, Founder and Director of BiOSTREAM Environmental, is a fourth-generation horticulturalist with over 47 years of experience in soil systems, plant performance, and environmental management.
This foundation, originating from pioneering commercial organic farming and integrated pest management practices established in the 1970s, underpins a practical and field-based approach to Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) and biofiltration systems. It informs Biostream Environmental’s focus on achieving long-term asset performance through a deeper understanding of soil, media, and vegetation dynamics.
At BIOSTREAM ENVIRONMENTAL, this generational knowledge is applied directly to the assessment and performance of WSUD and biofiltration systems.
Our approach focuses on understanding soil structure, media behaviour, and plant performance as integrated systems, ensuring that environmental assets function as intended beyond construction and into long-term operation.
BiOSTREAM ENVIRONMENTAL provides specialised services across the assessment, construction, and management of WSUD assets, biofiltration systems, and stormwater infrastructure.
With a strong foundation in soil systems, media performance, and vegetation dynamics, our work focuses on identifying risks, improving asset performance, and supporting long-term system functionality.
Our contribution to the Water by Design Guidelines further reflects our commitment to industry leadership and the advancement of sustainable urban water management practices.
BiOSTREAM ENVIRONMENTAL brings extensive field-based experience in the assessment and management of WSUD assets, including hundreds of physical and visual inspections undertaken annually.
This practical exposure provides a detailed understanding of how these systems perform in real-world conditions, enabling the identification of common failure points and the development of effective, long-term solutions that support the delivery of reliable, high-performing environmental assets.
This depth of experience supports the delivery of reliable, high-performing environmental assets that meet design intent and both community and industry expectations.
Enhancing our environment one project at a time.
From biofiltration and wetland asset design to construction compliance and environmental whole-of-life management, our end-to-end services are designed to support you every step of the way.
